Vladimir Puzynya: “Shame On Our Men” 15:49, 24/02/2003, “Narodnaya Volya”
Recently prominent Belarusian women of art and culture declared their support of the People’s March “For Better Life!”, scheduled for March 12. Among them were artist Zinaida Bondarenko, filmmaker Tatiana Loginova, 13th Supreme Soviet deputy Ludmila Gryaznova, wife of the missing businessman Irina Krasovskaya and ZUBR activist Irina Tolstik. The females disagreed with the current state policy and called on the nation to engage in the spring rally.
How come, our women stand on guard of our independence, native tongue, welfare, honor and a right to be called human? They do what we should be doing, instead of teaching our children and grandchildren about the beauty and love for each other…
I feel ashamed for our male lackeys in the government and the “national assembly”, workers, farmers and intelligentsia alike. They keep silent. Seemingly, they got accustomed to it and now it is women who got to fight for a better life.
I uphold their initiative and call on everyone to stay together and fight for our right for better life.
I’m with your, dear ladies!
Your Vladimir Puzynya,
National artist of Belarus, winner of international festivals
