FTU Leadership Blamed Over Foul Play 15:14, 25/02/2003
Another country’s trade union – of radio electric energy industry – blamed the Federation of trade unions of Belarus for an attempt to “impose unification” of the industrial trade unions.
BelaPAN reports that they mean the FTU presidium’s ruling of January 30, the final variant of which was circulated among the industrial trade unions a week ago. Under that document, the decision to unify six industrial trade unions has been passed for the “further reinforcement of unity of the country’s trade union’s movement, optimization of its structure, sophistication of forms and methods of the trade unions, employers and Ministry of industry’s social partnership”.
In response, the presidium of the radio and electric energy trade union passed their own ruling, in which they view the FTU’s activities as contradicting the Federation’s statute. Under the statute, “all FTU organizations enjoy organizational and financial independence,” – stress the industrial trade unionists.
Moreover, the analogous statement has been voiced last week by the leader of the republic’s trade union of automobile and agricultural machinery Alexander Bukhvostov. He said that the final variant of the FTU presidium’s ruling on amalgamation of industrial trade unions didn’t include the amendments, envisaging the principle of free will in the unification process.
