Free Trade Unions Meet with Democratic 11:46, 26/02/2003
Delegation of the International Confederation of free trade unions intends to pay visit to Belarus on February 27-28 in order to familiarize themselves with the situation in the Belarusian Congress of democratic trade unions, whose accession to ICFTU will be considered later in June.
The agreement on the visit to the Belarusian capital has been reached during the recent trip of the Congress’ delegation to Brussels, where the president of the Congress Alexander Yaroshuk rendezvoused with the secretary general of the International Confederation of free trade unions Mr.Rider. Upon the mission’s outcomes they will determine on whether or not to grant Congress its place in the international organization, uniting trade unionists of 148 states of the globe.
Namely during the meeting in Brussels there has been voiced a political statement on the Congress’ accession into the confederation. “Moreover,” – “Belarusky Rynok” was told by the president of the Congress Yaroshuk: “For the first time ever they made an exception for us in the reception procedure in order to draw the time of acceptance nearer, for they realize pretty well the situation in Belarus. Usually, such things are determined by the city hall, but its next meeting will take place not until November, while the board will convene in June. In this connection it was decided to send their mission to Minsk to examine the situation on the spot.”
