“Novaya Gazeta Smorgoni’s” Next Issue Will Never See Light 12:55, 27/02/2003
The newspaper’s founder Romuald Ulan was stripped of the right to conduct entrepreneurial activities in early February by the regional economic court. The man’s complaint has never been satisfied.
Attorney Evgeny Malinovsky noted that 18 journalists would have no work as a result, while 3200 subscribers will never get new issues. There will significantly decrease the people’s opportunity to get newspaper information. However, the court’s jury, presided by Vladimir Dobranov, ignored all these arguments.
“We temporarily halted publishing the “Novaya Gazeta Smorgoni”. Hopefully, by the end of next week the newspaper may resume operation. I plan to continue the business, which I like a lot, with a new founder” – said the newspaper’s editor Romuald Ulan in an interview to Radio Svaboda.
