NEWS  US Defense Minister Confirms Wprost’s Information 11:45, 03/03/2003 US Defense Ministry plans to deploy their German, British and Italian military bases in Poland, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria – drawing them closer to the Middle East and Asian disputed territories. This information, distributed by Washington ProFile, indirectly confirms publication in the Polish journal Wprost on the re-deployment of some German military bases to Poland. According to the Polish magazine, one of the NATO’s aviation bases will be located some hundred kilometers away from Belarus, namely in Minsk-Mazovetsky. Washington ProFile reports that the number of the US military contingent outside America has been contracting over the past 20 years. If in 1980 almost 689thsd enlisted personnel served in the foreign contingent, then in the year 1990 their number fell down to 610thsd. In 2001 over 255thsd GIs and officers served in US foreign contingent.
