The Belarusian town of Polotsk will host on March 4-6 the second meeting of the secretaries of the security councils of the four Slavic states – Belarus, Poland, Russia and Ukraine. RIA “Novosti” was told in the Russian Security Council that the primary item on their daily agenda would surely be the situation development around Iraq, which is directly linked with the regional and international security problems.
Moreover, in the limelight of their attention will also remain anti-terrorist struggle, drug trafficking, illegal migration and other types of organized criminality, as well as frontier cooperation in economic, energy and infrastructure spheres.
Russian Security Council’s secretary Vladimir Rushailo explained the necessity to hold meetings in such format in the following way: “There emerged new threats to our regional security at this stage. These four countries are part of all different international bodies, but they are united by one common task – fighting international terrorism, frontier criminality etc.”
