Striking Committee of Entrepreneurs Notifies Government, Lukashenko of March 12 Strike 12:17, 11/03/2003
The Striking Committee of entrepreneurs forwarded to the government and Alexander Lukashenko a notification about the forthcoming March 12 strike. The entrepreneurs also claim that they intend to join the march “For Better Life!”, scheduled for March 12.
BelaPAN was told by the chairman of the striking committee Valery Levonevsky that notification lays out demands to the country’s leadership, including cancellation of mandatory use of cash machines, introduction of special bank account for individuals, who pay single tax and the revision of social insurance provisions, as well as the nullification of certain destructive presidential decrees.
According to Levonevsky, given the demands, enumerated in the text of notification, aren’t fulfilled, the March 12 strike will turn into the first massive action in spring this year in a series of other similar ones, which are still to follow.
Meantime he underscored that the strike will be run by the concerted entrepreneurs’ forces, including the organizing committee for the national public association “Perspective”, organization “Private property” and entrepreneurs’ strike.
Levonevsky assumes that March 12 strike will encompass “around 40% of the Belarusian territory”.
