Lukashenko Blacklisted As One of World’s Ten Worst Contemporary Dictators 12:20, 11/03/2003, ForUM A dictator received additional chances of getting listed in the rating if he annihilated his political opponents, persecuted his own citizens and posed threat to the neighboring states, reports Washington ProFile. The list is topped by Kim Chen Ire, 61, who rules over Northern Korea since 1994; He’s followed by King Fahd, 80, and Prince Abdullah, 79, ruling over the Saudi Arabia since 1982 and 1995 accordingly; The third to come is Saddam Hussein, 65, who’s president over Iraq since 1979; The forth is Charles Taylor, 55, president of Liberia since 1997; Fifth – Tan Shve, 70, head of Myanmar since 1992; Sixth – Teodoro Obian Nguema, 60, head of Equatorial Guinea since 1979; Seventh – Saparmurat Niyazov, 62, president of Turkmenistan since 1990; Eighth – Muammar Gaddafi, 60, head of Libya since 1969; Ninth – Fidel Castro Rus, 76, head of Cuba since 1959; And last but not least on the list of ten – Alexander Lukashenko, 48, president of Belarus since 1994. Lukashenko “enjoys” an unofficial status of “Europe’s last dictator”. He gained unlimited authorities and sweeping powers through political machinations and is suspected of implication in annihilation of political opponents.
