Belarus to Operate in Libyan Energy Sector 12:11, 11/03/2003
Belarus and Libya register their joint venture for operating in the Libyan energy sector, “Interfax” was told by the head of the “Belvneshenergo” company Alexander Rogovtsov. According to him, the signing of all the necessary documentation took place on February 19 this year. The new company’s founders will be “Belvneshenergo” joint stock and the General company for electric energy of Libya.
Supposedly, the registration procedure of the new company, which is called at the moment the “African energy company” will come to an end within the second quarter of the year. As pointed out by Rogovtsov, the goal of the newly formed enterprise will be the development of Libyan energy sector (modernization of the existing sub-stations, construction of new electric lines, rendering engineer services and shipping the necessary equipment), as well the participation in the energy sectors in other African countries.
As said by the agency’s representatives, the choice of the concrete projects, where the company’s specialists will engage, will be taking place parallel with the process of the company’s registration. Expectedly, the first works will start later in the year.
