Some Candidates Have No Moral Right to Be Deputies 16:13, 11/03/2003
The Brest regional affiliate of the public organization “Human rights center “Vesna” addressed the Brest town’s electoral commission with an open letter, in which they point out systematic violations of law by some candidates for the deputies. At the same time, BelaPAN was told by the head of the department Vladimir Velichkin, he passed over to the commission “a whole set of flyers without exit data from candidate Ludmila Orlova”.
Some of the electoral commissions applied double standards policy towards the violators, deems Vladimir Velichkin.
“Members of the Brest regional section of the “Human rights center “Vesna” assume that certain candidates don’t respect neither the laws, nor the general human values, and so the decisions of the town electoral commission must be concomitant. One cannot tolerate that the deputies are the violators of the Belarusian legislation,” – reads the text of the open letter.
