Action Of Solidarity With Belarusian Nation Takes Place In Kiev, Ukraine
15:42, 12/03/2003

At 12-1p.m. the Belarusian embassy in Kiev was picketed by the local protesters, who shared their solidarity with the People’s March “For Better Life!”, due to take place in the Belarusian capital later in the day. The picketers cried out slogans and sang national songs. The most popular slogans were “Luka, get away!”, “Long live Belarus!”, “Belarus – to Europe, Lukashenko – out of it!”, “Honor! Motherland! Dignity!” etc.

The passer-bys and journalists were handed in the Appeal of the Ukrainian public figures in support of the Belarusian People’s March “For Better Life!”, in which they expressed solidarity with the Belarusian nation’s struggle and called on the Belarusian government to refrain from unleashing repressions against the protesters or breaking down the protest.

None of the Belarusian diplomats came out to greet the protesters even after the loud shouts: “Long live Belarus! Your ambassador is a sly coward!” and so the text of the appeal was passed over to the embassy personnel via the guards.

The picketers left home, shouting “Do the repair!”, both addressing the Belarusian regime and the building, where the Belarusian embassy sits, for it looks really shabby, having a broken window and leaking roof. They compared the embassy’s condition to the overall state of the Belarusian regime.
