Chairman of the Constitutional court Grigory Vasilevich deems that Belarusian citizens aren’t yet ready for the capital punishment’s cancellation. This opinion was shared by him in course of the international conference on the country’s Supreme Court’s activities, held on April 17 in memory of the 80th anniversary since the Court’s foundation. According to Vasilevich, “we have to appeal to the international standards very carefully. For instance, our population isn’t yet ready for the death penalty’s cancellation”. However, as claimed by the Constitutional Court’s chair, “in the nearest future we must come to the solution of this problem”.

ZUBRs are thrown in jail, get fined, expelled from the universities, fired from job, get beaten in the streets. But all this has no result. Special services and their cronies now got down to the most sophisticated forms of exerting psychological pressure – moral terror.
Deputy head of the Minsk regional organization of parents having many children Tereza Lasovskaya was dismissed for her part in the People’s March “For Better Life!”. The organization’s leadership told her that she is sacked for her political views.

The governments of the democratic countries will be obliged to take resolution into account when building their relations with Belarus. International organizations, both financial and economic, will also have to have it in mind. The resolution envisages quite serious mechanisms for the control over human rights situation in Belarus, including the mechanisms of the UN special rapporteurs,” – deems Charter’97 international coordinator, former deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Andrei Sannikov.
