On April 30 the employer dismissed from job for his part in the local elections representative of the “Vesna” human rights center in Novopolotsk Zmitser Soloviev.

Up until April 30 Zmitser Soloviev used to work in the scientific research center, located on the premises of the Polotsk State University.

“Officially it is written in the order that I’m fired “due to the expiration of contract term”, which is but a formal pretext, for our contracts get regularly prolonged. The true motive behind that move was my running for a deputy’s seat at the local elections in the same constituency with our pro-rector Fedor Panteleenko. I was his competitor in March 2003. In addition to that, during the parliamentary elections in the year 2000 Panteleenko chaired the electoral commission in the voting constituency #9, while I monitored the ballot on behalf of “Vesna” human rights center, disclosing falsifications in that polling station,” – said representative of “Vesna” human rights center Zmitser Soloviev.
