New Law on Media to Be Passed in Fall 15:52, 02/05/2003
According to the Minister of information Mikhail Podgainy, the schedule of the future exhibition “Media in Belarus” includes round table on “Legislation problems in media”, during which they will listen to all proposals concerning the law on media.
Meantime, said the Minister, “they haven’t yet prepared the last variant of the new law on media, worked out by the specialists of the presidential Center for law-making activities”.
BelaPAN quotes Podgainy as saying that in the first half year the new draft law must be submitted for consideration to the “parliament’s” lower chamber. “Then there will be held parliamentary hearings, broad and public discussion of the projects by journalists, after which the document will be considered in the first and second readings of the “house of representatives”, - said Podgainy.
