Tradesmen, Foreign Students Fall in Suspicion 11:32, 14/05/2003
Due to the atypical pneumonia epidemic in the world, the Belarusian authorities grew especially suspicious about traders and students from the unfavorable regions, said deputy Minister for healthcare, country’s chief medic Valery Kluchenovich. So far, no cases of disease have been recorded in Belarus.
The Ministry of healthcare stepped up all the necessary prophylactic measures in order to discover the cases of atypical pneumonia. They ran special trainings among the air and train stewards. The Foreign Ministry also keeps an eye on the situation development in Belarus. FM recommends to the Belarusian nationals not only to refrain from visiting the unfavorable countries, but not to travel around the world at all. According to the World Healthcare Organization, there have been recorded worldwide over 7,400 cases of heavy pneumonia. Over 550 persons died. The incidents occurred in nine countries, while the overwhelming majority of the sick people come from China. The list of the European countries, where they found ill people, is now joined by Poland and Finland.
