On Saturday TV viewers from NTV channel had a perfect opportunity to watch live on their TV screens Alexander Lukashenko. The head of the Belarusian state, who ruled to shut sown NTV bureau in Minsk, appeared on air not accidentally. One could get an impression that the TV company’s leadership had to preserve the Minsk-based office, while one of the necessary conditions for that, as required by the Belarusian side, was the broadcasting of an interview with Lukashenko.

Representatives of the Belarusian community in USA took part in the annual “March of enslaved nations”, held on July 20 in New York. The March is the first event, ushering in the “Week of enslaved nations”, which annually, starting from as far back as 1959, attracts representatives of diasporas of those countries of the world, which badly lack democracy, civil freedoms and right for the national self-identification.
In September 2003 the Foreign Minister of Palestine, doctor Nabil Shaat may pay visit to Belarus, said in a recent interview to BelaPAN news agency, plenipotentiary ambassador of Palestine in the Republic of Belarus Muntaser Fuad Abu Zeid.
Eight towns of Grodno region were flooded over the past weekend with posters and flyers, relating to ZUBR movement. By spreading them across the region, ZUBRs marked the ninth year of Alexander Lukashenko’s rule. Posters “He Must Go!”, graffiti and flyers with the movement’s logo and contact data appeared at once in Slonim, Zelva, Volkovysk, Mosty, Schuchin, Lida and Ivye. Moreover, in certain places they also hang white-red-white national flags, for instance, in Vokovysk, near the lively Belarusian-Polish border and along the highway Grodno – Lida – Minsk.
“There’s no way Vasil Bykov could even in thought plead with the president for help. This only testifies to Alexander Lukashenko’s rich imagination,” – commented poet Rygor Borodulin on Alexander Lukashenko’s statements about Vasil Bykov’s alleged addressing him for help.

In his view, it is normal since liberals are distinguished from others by their love for freedom. Moreover, he says that politicians from Central and Eastern Europe comprehend the situation in Belarus better than others, as far as they themselves had to fight communist regimes in the past. They were successful and feel like helping our country – the last one, where the “freedom” category is purely grammatical.
On August 30, on his birthday eve, Alexander Lukashenko will be personally opening the reconstructed brewery “Krynitsa”, which lately turned out in the epicenter of scandals, linked with “Baltika’s” failed attempt to invest its money here. “Baltika’s” representatives, in their turn, state that the modernization of “Krynitsa” was real cheap for Belarus, hinting at $10,5mln, transferred by “Baltika” under the preliminary agreements. These means were used by the Belarusian plant as if they were its own.
