In September Belarus to Be Visited by Palestinian FM Head 11:47, 22/07/2003
In September 2003 the Foreign Minister of Palestine, doctor Nabil Shaat may pay visit to Belarus, said in a recent interview to BelaPAN news agency, plenipotentiary ambassador of Palestine in the Republic of Belarus Muntaser Fuad Abu Zeid.
According to Abu Zeid, Shaat is supposed to first travel on mission to Russia and then fly to Belarus to meet with the Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov. The ambassador doesn’t rule out a possibility of Shaat’s meeting with the president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, “given the working schedule of the Belarusian head of state allows for such a meeting.”
Abu Zeid pointed out that in course of the embassy’s operation in Belarus (since its opening on February 4, 2003 – BelaPAN) the Belarusian-Palestinian relations have significantly improved.
For instance, the president of Palestine Yasir Arafat twice forwarded to Alexander Lukashenko greetings with the Victory and Independence Days, thanking him for Belarus’ honest position in the Arab-Israeli conflict and even shared with him his vision of the conflict’s solution.
