The committee will struggle for the Humanities Lyceum

The parents of the pupils of the Jakub Kolas National State Humanities Lyceum create the committee for the defense of the Lyceum. The decision was taken during the parental meeting on 21 July in the evening which took place in this educational institution. The founder of the Lyceum Vladimir Kolas told BelaPAN that the proposals to join the Committee are thought to be sent to all the political parties, non-governmental organizations and to the celebrities of the science and culture. By V. Kolas, the meeting gathered about 200 persons. They discussed the way Minsk executive committee is planning to fulfill the government’s decree about the liquidation of the Lyceum and the creation of the Minsk State Humanities Lyceum that would be successor of the traditions of the National Humanities Lyceum.

“Navinky” against the Information Ministry

The Supreme Economy Court of the Republic of Belarus will examine the suit of the editorial staff of the newspaper “Navinky» against the Information Ministry. The reason for bringing the action was the notification from 22 May 2003, that the newspaper received ‘for the violation of the article 5 of “ Law about the printing and other mass-media» committed in â ¹ 11(90) and in ¹ 8(87) 2003 in the articles “encroaching on the morality of citizens”. After that the publication of the newspaper was cancelled.

Tatiana Elovaya went to law in Minsk City Court

ZUBR activist Tatiana Elovaya lodged a complaint to Minsk City Court. Tatsiana demands to cancel Central District Court resolution according to which she was sentenced to 10 days of administrative arrest. Tatiana believes that the decision is illegal, because terms of imposing administrative punishment have expired. According to articles 37 and 227 of Administrative Code administrative punishment can be imposed not later than within 2 months after the offence was committed.

This summer Belarus is already deprived of eight newspapers

“Articles of “BDG”/ “Belarusian business newspaper” journalists will be published in the future - even if on the pages of Russian ” Novaja Gazeta”/ “New newspaper”, - told in interview to BelaPAN the editor-in-chief of “BDG” Svetlana Kalinkina. It’s expected that the latest Belarusian special issue of the Russian edition will appear this week. Let’s remind that the publication of “BDG” was suspended for three months by order of belarusian Information minister Michael Podgainij in the late days of May.

An unexpected statement has been done by vice-premier – Economy minister Andrej Kobiakov during the sitting of the presidium of the government; from the beginning of the next year the rate of the minimum salary would be brought nearer the budget of the subsistence wage, ATN reported. If it goes on today, the figures would change in the following way: the minimum salary of 43300 rubles would rise to the budget of the living wage of 98800 rubles.
