Tcherikov collects money for the restoration of the Lenin monument

In Tcherikov, a town in Mogilev oblast, people collect money for the restoration of Lenin monument. This initiative belongs to local syndicates. In Tcherikov they are planning to collect from people and enterprises 10 millions rubles by the month of September.

The Mogilev authorities refused to give office to the BNF party

The Mogilev executive committee cancelled its decision according to which The Mogilev ,local organization of the Belarusian People’s Front was given an office in the former “Dniepr” hotel.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs doesn’t comment the deportation of Katagina Matushevskaja.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has refused to comment the exile from the country of Katagina Matushevskaja, deputy president of the Polish party “Unija pracy”/ “Labor Union”. “We’ve decided not to comment this event”,- said Andrej Savinikh, press-secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Notification to “Navinky” is remained valid

The interest of the plaitiff (the redaction of the newspaper «Navinky») was represented in the court by the editor-in-chief of the edition Pavel Konovalchik and the barrister Tatyana Stankevich. The plaintiffs said that the titles of the two articles for which the notifications were put don’t encroach the reader’s morality because the lexis used in it is widespread among young people and is often used in other mass-media (particularly in electronic mass-media). “ You can discuss the art virtues or the level of the journalistic professionalism of the articles, but you can’t accuse them of encroaching somebody’s morals,” - Tatyana Stankevich said in the court. The same idea was asserted in the conclusion of the Belarusian PEN- center that has been specially prepared and read at the sitting.

Arrest of the activists of the Young Front

Last night on the Scaryna avenue the activists of the Young Front Dmitry Dashkevich, Artur Finkevich and minor Oleg Gnechik were detained. The boys were sticking leaflets. The policemen however have brought an accusation of hooliganism. They were all brought to the police post of the Sovetsky district.

White-red-white flags will fly over the building of the Czech Senate

White-red-white flags will flutter over the building of the Czech Senate in the honor of anniversary of adoption of the Declaration about the national belarusian sovereignty. This initiative was proposed by the group of senators that jointly with the representatives of the BNR Council, Belarusian union in Prague “Scaryna” and the found “Man in need” carried out the sitting of the organizational committee of the political club “For free Belarus”. The honorary president of this organization will be Vaclav Gavel. An activist of the Belarusian Diaspora in the Czech Republic Natalya Makovik said:

The officials of Lukashenko will pay for the promises he didn’t keep

Alexandre Lukashenko listened to the reports of the newly appointed members of the government - - acting premier-minister Sergey Sidorsky, deputy premier-minister Poman Vnutchko, minister of Economy and Provisions Zenon Lomat and the director of the concern “Belgospitcheprom” Vladimir Dolgenkov. In addition Lukashenko expressed his concern about the recent rise of public utilities rates. The head of the country charged to analyze the activity of the corresponding services that “instead of reducing their own expenses raise the prices”. “ The money the country gives them must be spent for the satisfaction of the people’ needs, not for keeping the army of officials,”- emphasized he. This means that the officials are accused of not having kept the president’s own promise (in spring) not to raise the tariffs during this year, but not himself.
