The officials of Lukashenko will pay for the promises he didn’t keep 11:24, 24/07/2003
Alexandre Lukashenko listened to the reports of the newly appointed members of the government - - acting premier-minister Sergey Sidorsky, deputy premier-minister Poman Vnutchko, minister of Economy and Provisions Zenon Lomat and the director of the concern “Belgospitcheprom” Vladimir Dolgenkov. In addition Lukashenko expressed his concern about the recent rise of public utilities rates. The head of the country charged to analyze the activity of the corresponding services that “instead of reducing their own expenses raise the prices”. “ The money the country gives them must be spent for the satisfaction of the people’ needs, not for keeping the army of officials,”- emphasized he. This means that the officials are accused of not having kept the president’s own promise (in spring) not to raise the tariffs during this year, but not himself.
Let’s remind that in one week the ministry of Economy has managed to increase the tariffs for warming and water heating twice, although Lukashenko pledged more than once that the prices for public utilities wouldn’t raise significantly this year. It’s simple to calculate that in November when the heating will return to the fully working order the rent for a simple 2-chambers flat will reach 80000 BYR and for a 3-chambers flat – 100000 BYR.
