11:58, 07/08/2003

The strike committee of the businessmen of the Republic of Belarus headed by Valery Levonevsky, declared about preparing and carrying out mass political actions of protest in the country. The cause for this declaration is the introducing of a new monthly binding tax (requisitions) for entrepreneurs that would be paid as the compulsory social assurance at 36% from the receipts. Moreover the tax will be recovered independently from how many days an individual entrepreneur works a month, how many children he has at his expense and how many years of the labor length he has. Even if he doesn’t work or work one day a month or doesn’t get any profits he will have to pay minimum 36% of the subsistence wage every month (today it’s about 19$). Then this sum of requisitions will be increased.
