From today on all of the country’s universities will teach ideology lessons. It was recommended not only to the state institutes, but also to the privately-owned ones. In other words, the ideology course is considered mandatory for all. For now they only worked out methodical recommendations, while the textbook will get published in a couple of months.
A decision to strengthen the ideological component of university education was passed upon the outcomes of an ideology meeting, organized in April by Alexander Lukashenko. In August the country’s universities received their new curriculum. Its authors claim that “the state and society cannot progressively develop without clear and comprehensible philosophical landmarks”, while “an attempt to build the society in the conditions of the absence of any ideology has failed”.
It could be noticed that the developers of the new policy are thoroughly monitoring the current political situation development. They stated that “the state ideology should be regarded as an immune system, which provides for a normal appearance and existence of a state, as a phenomenon”. Such a biological and medical comparison had been surely derived by them from Alexander Lukashenko’s speeches. Such a bright image of state ideology for the first time sounded from the mouth of the Belarusian incumbent.
Apparently, the university teachers will need to pass special courses in order to prepare themselves for teaching the new subject to the students. The country’s state ideological system spreads onto not only universities. Recently, for example, they introduced special days of informing the population. That is a sure analogy of the Soviet political information studies, when citizens were informed of the country’s interior and exterior politics on their places of work or living.
