NEWS  Belarusian Writers Deny Recognition to “Union State” 13:22, 11/09/2003, photo by bymedia.net Our writers came up with the loudest sensation of all at the recent press-conference in the Palace of writers. At the last session of the Belarusian Union of writers, held in August, it was determined not to nominate Ivan Naumenko and Nikolai Cherginets as candidates for a “union state” award in literature and art. Know why? ‘Cause “there doesn’t exist such a state”, while the writers don’t feel like engaging in someone’s black PR. So far it remains unknown who will represent Belarus (the award, by the way, equals to $17thsd).
