The session of the working group on the creation of the European coalition took place on October 24 in Minsk. The closest and strategy issues of the European coalition were discussed. Mikola Statkevich, the leader of the Belarusian Social and Democratic Party (Narodnaya Hramada), Andrey Sannikau, a member of the Council of the block “Free Belarus”, Valiancina Matusevich, the leader of the women’s party “Nadzeja”, Leanid Malahau, the chairman of “The Private Property”, Nina Stuzhynskaya, the leader of “The Women’s League”, Anatol Fedarau, a regional public activist, Zmitser Barodka, the chairman of Minsk region branch of the block ”Free Belarus”. The presentation of the movement will take place in Minsk on November 1, on the tenth anniversary of the European Union.

“I don’t see any “deadlock” situation, and have never seen,” Alyaksandar Lukashenka commented on the description of the Belarusian and Russian relations, which appeared in mass media. Answering the journalists’ questions today the head of the state said that everything what happened at the last session of the Supreme State Counsel was not connected to his personal perspective of a politician and of the president. NATO doesn’t plan for the nearest future to participate in military maneuvers on the territory of Belarus. On Thursday Major General Ernst Lutz, the chief commander of the Subregional Command Center “Northern East” of the united NATO forces, informed the journalists in Minsk about it.

The administrations of the high schools in Krychau region received letters from RNU(Russian National Unity). In those letters, as in the leaflets with swastika posted in town, it was suggested to unite around “the Russian idea” and the contact addresses and telephone numbers in Krychau were printed.

Alyaksandar Buhvostau, the chairman of the Republican Counsel of the Belarusian Professional Union of the workers in auto and agricultural machinery industry, was forced out of the Belarusian Professional Unions’ Federation. This decision was made at the II preliminary session and was motivated by the annual rotation of the members of the Presidium.

Belarus is not against the introduction of the Russian ruble starting from 2005 as the common currency in our country. The Russian ruble will overtake this function before 2008, till common currency will be developed, as it is stated in the Treaty of “the Union State”. On October 24 Alyaksandar Lukashenka stated this in his welcoming word at the meeting with journalists. The President said that Belarus needs guarantees that “the money tap will not be closed” due to the introduction of the Russian ruble. “We need political, diplomatic, and foreign guarantees, which will be enclosed into the Constitution”, said Lukashenka.
