Iryna Krasoiuskaya “When politicians and opposition activists are missing, the authorities are the first suspects”
17:07, 27/10/2003, photo ByMedia.net

At the press conference on October 24 Alyaksandar Lukashenka was forced to answer the question concerning the destiny of the missing politicians from the opposition. Asking the question Marya Koktysh, a journalist from “Narodnaya Volya”, said that while the investigation has not found out anything about Yury Zaharenka, Viktar Hanchar, Anatoly Krasovsky and Dzmitry Zavadsky in 4 years, the president is not interested in the searching for these people. As the reply Lukashenka said that this topic does bother him, but there are about 800-900 people missing in the country each year and “these politicians, who are always meant in the first turn are not better than the actors who disappeared in Germany, journalists, etc.” The press center of Charter`97 asked Iryna KRASOVSKAYA, Anatoly Krasovsky’s wife, the businessman and the public activist who has been missing from 1999, to comment on Lukashenka’s speech.
