Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko is satisfied with the national defense industry`s performance. "The results we achieved during the Clear Sky-2003 military exercises suggest that the defense industry is developing successfully," Lukashenko said while presenting state awards to servicemen and representatives of various economic branches. The Clear Sky exercises were held in October, 2003.

On 7 November members of democratic parties held an improvised mini-referendum concerning the prolongation of the presidential term for Aliaksandr Lukashenka. The action was authorized, but the authorities defined a place far from the center of the city. So, the organizers took ballot boxes and went to the central market.

For the participation in a non-sanctioned civil action on November 11 five of the Belarusian People’s Front activists from Vitebsk got warnings from court. That was Halina Zubrytskaya’s, the judge, decision. The opposition activists were detained for the installation of the commemorative crosses at the places, where the victims of Stalin repressions were shot. The judge was studying the cases for three hours.
