Eight people arrested in Minsk :: Charter'97 :: News

“The Public Voting “The Third Term”” ended up in 8 arrests in Minsk on November 30.

The initiative group “Our Alternative” planned to carry out voting at some large Minsk markets. The action at Kamarouski market lasted for only 10 minutes. The activists had enough time to spread the leaflets calling civilians “not to participate in the referendum on the extension of the presidential term planned by the authorities” The police started detaining people after that.

8 people were detained. They were brought to the Department of the Internal Affairs of Savetsky district. After the preliminary investigation four of them were freed. Liudmila Hraznova, Andrus Kozel, Aleh Tarasevich and Ihar Arlou stayed at the Department. As Hraznova said to Charter`97, they got writs to their neighborhood administrative commissions. The opposition activists might be fined now.
