Lukashenka requires compensation from EU 17:22, 02/12/2003
In the cooperation of Belarus with the EU “it is necessary to find instruments to balance our relations”, said Lukashenka on December 1 in his interview to the journalists of the German magazine “Spiegel”. Speaking about Belarus’ neighbors’ plans to join the EU, Lukashenka mentioned that “there are positive and negative outcomes”. “It depends on what kind of process that will be.”
Answering journalists’ questions, Lukashenka said that Belarus fulfills the undertaken obligations in full on prevention of transit of illegal immigrants from Africa and Asia through Belarus to Western Europe. As “BDG” says, Lukashenka exaggerated the number of the detained illegal immigrants by 10 times. He also reminded that they had appealed to the EU states, including Germany with a suggestion to cover the expenses for solving the problem of illegal immigration. Lukashenka said with regret that there was no reaction to his suggestion.
