One more Belarusian journalist has become a criminal. The court of Stolin district has found guilty the owner of local newspaper “Vecherny Stolin” Alyaksandar Ihnatsyuk in intended insult of the representative of authorities. As the “Belarusian Business Newspaper” informs, according to the verdict of the court the editor and owner of the newspaper “Vechenniy Stolin” is to pay former chairman of the executive committee Uladzimier Pashkevich 30 base salaries for “intended insult”.
The criminal case on charges related to the article 369 of the Criminal Code (insult of the representative of authorities) was instituted in summer on the appeal of the victim who was a head of the district at that time. The court found a transgression in a number of critical articles by A.Ihantsiuk. In the sentence “Uladzimier Pashkevich is simply a poor parody of a arrogant gang-leader Gritsian Tavrichesky”, (a character of a comedy) he allegedly used a negative and deteriorative estimation of the activities of the chairman of the executive committee U. Pashkevich. “In another article I insulted him as a representative of authorities by using the word ‘gangsters’”, said Alyaksandar Ihnatsiuk.
In the court the journalist agreed that he had got into a passion and used wrong expressions, however he had not admitted that his actions were deliberate.
