Fine for Request Not to Transgress Constitution 16:54, 29/12/2003
The administrative commission of the Partisan district of Minsk fined Ludmila Hryaznova 25 thousand BYB for dissemination of printed materials without publisher`s imprint. In this way the authorities reacted to the call of the human rights watchdog not to infringe the Constitution and not to allow the referendum with the aim to prolong presidential authorities of Alyaksandar Lukashenka, the United Civil Party press service informs.
On November 30 eight persons from the initiative group “Nasha Alternativa” (“Our alternative”) were detained at the Kamarowski Market in Minsk after 10 minutes of the action “People Voting “the third term”. In these 10 minutes the participants of the action managed to throw about the leaflets, urging not to participate in the referendum, planned by the authorities to extend the presidential term. The detained were taken to the police station of the Soviat district of Minsk. After preliminary investigation four of them were released. Ludmila Hryaznova, Anrdus Koziel, Aleh Tarasievich and Ihar Arlow remained in the police station. They received summons to administrative commissions of the districts to arrive domiciliary. The formal justification of detentions was “unsanctioned dissemination of printed materials”. On November 7 the same action took place in Homiel. It also ended in detention of the organizers.
