Democrats Severely Beaten Up In Belazyorsk 13:06, 08/01/2004
The head of Belazersk town branch of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Narodnaya Hramada) Yawheny Akaronka and his wife, the deputy of town council Natallya Akaronka were beaten up by the unknown on January 2 in the evening. There were six assaulters. Yawhen Akaronka was placed to a hospital with grave injuries.
As the press service of the BSDP (NH), when the police detachment arrived to the place, and the police found out who were the victims of the crime, instead of trying to pursue the offenders, police captain said to Natallya: “Tomorrow you will not be neither a teacher nor a deputy of the town council”.
The Belarusian Social Democratic Party (NH) regards this attack as revenge to the eminent Social Democrats from Belazyorsk for their active political and social work. The Central Committee of the BSDP (NH) decided to make a request to the Prosecutor’s Office of Belarus and to make it take appropriate actions.
