Two More Summons For Aksana Novikava 12:04, 13/01/2004
Aksana Novikava, who was sentenced to a suspended prison term in April 2003 for insult of president Lukashenka, received two more summons for her participation in peaceful protests, informs the human rights center “Viasna”.
Aksana Novikava is summoned to the court of the Soviet district of Minsk on February 16. The administrative case relating Novikava’s detention on November 24 in Minsk during the action against a possible referendum on extension of Lukashenka’s presidency term is to be considered.
Another summons for January 21 requires Aksana Novikava to come to the court of the Funzensky District for consideration of the administrative case relating events of December 11, when Aksana Novikava was detained for an unsanctioned picket. She stood in front of the Minsk City Court with a placard: “Belarus needs jury”.
Besides, on January 17, 2004 in the court of the Frunzensky district of Minsk a hearing of the case of disaffirming a suspension of Novikava’s execution is to happen. She had been sentenced to two-year term of conditional sentence with suspension of service for two years for insult of the president. If the suspension would be disaffirmed, she can spend two years in prison.
