Police dispersed anti-fascists rock concert 16:23, 26/01/2004
On January 24 the police and OMON dispersed the rock concert planned at Minsk club “New Club”. 50 people were detained. Hrodna bands KalJan and PET NIHIL widely known by their anti-fascists beliefs were to perform there, as pahonia.promedia.by reports.
“As soon as we came to the club, we noticed the abnormal atmosphere. The police came and were looking for something, the organizers were very tense. As one of the organizers explained the concert was cancelled due to the threat of violations of order,” says KalJan guitarist Illia Pechynin.
After people started leaving the place the police and OMON began a real hunting for music fans. About 50 people were detained. All of them were brought to Leninski Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk. The young people were searched, put on file and released.
