Seven opposition activists detained in Belarus 16:28, 26/01/2004
Seven participants of an unsanctioned picket organized by the unregistered opposition youth organization Zubr to remember missing politicians were detained on 23 January near the building of the prosecutor`s office.
The activists were holding placards saying: "Where are Zakharanka, Hanchar, Krasowski and Zavadskiy?" and "Lukashenka, Sheyman, Sivakow it is time to face charges!"
The people taking part in the picket spent about 30 minutes near the building of the prosecutor`s office and were virtually ignored. Security officers prevented them from spilling red paint, which symbolised blood. Eventually, police officers, who were called to the scene, detained the activists.
