Tragedy in Krasnopolie :: Charter'97 :: News

Today, at 10.28 am at school number one of Krasnopolie, Mahileu region a wall and later the ceiling fell down in the gym. One pupil died at the spot, and the teacher of physical education died later in hospital. About 20 pupils of 9-10 forms got injured, as BelTA reports.

According to the latest information, 5 pupils are in Krasnopolie central hospital. The conditions are various. Most of them got craniocerebral injuries and fractures. The injured get the necessary aid.
By the preliminary information, the reinforced concrete constructions could not carry the weight of the snow and the roof collapsed in the gym. The lifting crane has already come to Krasnopolie, by its means they hope to rescue two more pupils.
As BelTA reports, this school is not a tumbledown building, as it was constructed in September 2002. Officers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and civilians work at the spot.
