Independent Association of Legal Investigations liquidated 15:47, 29/01/2004
On January 29 judge Oksana Budovskaya satisfied the claim of the Justice Department, saying that the Association has repeatedly violated the law “On public associations” and its statute by protecting other public associations’ interests at the Belarusian courts. The independent barristers think that the organization has been liquidated for the active protection of other public associations’ interests.
As Radio Freedom reports, the Independent Association of Legal Investigations will appeal this decision at the Supreme Court, but the members of the Association do not count for winning. According to Minister of Justice Viktor Golovanov’s words, last year courts liquidated 51 public associations by the request from his Department.
