Russian Minister of Transport: “Carriers try to leave Belarus aside” 15:43, 29/01/2004
A lot of carriers going from Western Europe to Russia back and forth try to leave Belarus aside. This issue was discussed at the meeting of the coordinative committee on forming and functioning of the transport system of the “union state” of Russia and Belarus.
As the Russian Minister of Transport Sergey Frank said, there is a move from the international transport corridor, Brest-Minsk-Russian boarder, to other directions.
According to his words, last year there were 10,000 fewer cargoes going through the corridor. It is connected with the carriers’ claims against the actions of the Belarusian side “on customs’ administration and confiscation.”
