Iryna Krasowskaya Speaks At Riga Forum

Activist of the Belarusian civil initiative “We Remember” Iryna Krasowskaya spoke today at the international forum “Future of the Democracy outside Baltic states”. The speech by Iryna Krasowskaya, wife of the Belarusian businessman and public figure Anatol Krasowsky, aroused caused enormous reaction: many participants of the conference heard about the problem of the abducted politicians in Belarus directly from the relatives of the missing.

Delivering a speech at the forum “The Future of the Democracy outside Baltic states” Iryna Krasowskaya reminded that involvement of prosecutor general Viktar Sheiman, former minister of Internal Affairs Yuri Sivakow, quick response special squad commander Zmicer Pawlichenka, minister of Internal Affairs Uladzimir Navumaw into the crimes is not investigated, and all of them still hold high positions. Iryna Krasowskaya also reminded about pressure on freedom of expression in Belarus: suppression of independent newspapers, monopolization of electronic mass media, and pressure on Internet-sources. She also told about crackdown on non-state democratic organizations. As said by Krasowskaya, in this way the Belarusian authorities get ready to parliamentary elections planned for autumn. As said by her, the experience of past elections allows predicting mass falsifications during the parliamentary elections. Iryna Krasowskaya urged all democratic forces to unite.
