CCP-BPF Members Detained In Vitsebsk :: Charter'97 :: News

Uladzimier Pleschanka and Alyaksandar Salawyan, the Belarusian Popular Front-Conservative Christian Party members, were detained for unsanctioned picket and for the content of the posters they brought to the Vitsebsk regional executive committee. Pleschanka held an announcement “Collection of signatures against union treaty, illegally signed by Alyaksandar Lukashenka”, and Alyaksandar Salawyan had a placard “By participating in elections you support the present regime”.

Having read these words, police officers first wrote down their names, and left for some time. After a getting an opinion of their commanders, believes Pleschanka, they ordered the both oppositionists to go by car to the police department with them. Pleschanka and Salawyan were taken to the police department of Chyhunachny district where the report for unsanctioned picket was drawn up.
