UCP Demands Lukashenka’s Resignation :: Charter'97 :: News

The cutoff of Russian gas supplies allowed by Lukashenka’s government endangered power security of Belarus, told the United Civil Party in its Monday special statement on the gas supplies problems in Belarus. The UCP demands resignation of Lukashenka as the main culprit of the large foreign policy failure.

“Incompetent policy of the authorities endangered the supply of the most important resources to Belarus, -- the statement declares. -- Lukashenka had not apologized for siphoning off gas, which was paid by people and companies of Poland, Lithuania and Kaliningrad region. Despite their liability the Belarusian authorities failed to guarantee uninterrupted gas transit to Europe, once again blemishing reputation and good name of our country”. As it is underscored in the statement of the oppositional party, the policy of “imitation of integration with Russia ended in collapse”.
