Anatol Shumchanka Incriminated Unsanctioned Meeting
14:16, 27/02/2004

On February 26 Anatol Shumchanka, one of the leaders of the entrepreneurs’ movement, chairperson of “Perspektiva” association of small traders, was summoned to the Internal Affairs department of the Pershamajsky District of Minsk for confidential conversation with deputy head of the department, the Narpodnaya Volya informs.

On February 24 Mr. Shumchanka came to market Uruchcha-3 for private appointment. The traders who work in the market, approached him with different questions. A little group gathered.

In the police department of the Pershamajsky district Anatol was told that law-enforcers consider that group of people an unsanctioned meeting, and him an organizer. A statement of the case was drawn up. In written form the businessman expressed his disagreement with the report, however he was summoned to an administrative law judge for pronouncing judgment.

In court Anatol applied for a lawyer, and the hearing of the case was rescheduled for March 1.

As said by Shumchanka, the case has been obviously fabricated. “The director of the market Uruchcha-3 to have a grudge against me, because I helped traders who rent places at the market, to legally evade market administration’s obligatory requirements to use cash register. The administration did not profit from that, and they feel angry with me now”.
