120 BRUY Members Turned Into Zubr Members
11:37, 03/03/2004

One of the official youth organizations branches – the Belarusian Republican Youth Union – in Baranavichy joined the Zubr movement. The decision was passed at the general meeting of the BRYU members of Chernyshow Baranavichy state college of light industry. This organization is one of the largest in the town; it consists of more than one hundred members.

The meeting took place on March 2, in the evening, in the assembly hall of one of the students’ hostels. The fist question on the agenda was a proposal of a number of the BRYU members to join the Zubr movement. After a short discussion it was approved by the majority of the present – 120 people. Only six persons abstained from voting. Nobody voted against the proposal. The new members of the Zubr movement received Zubr badges, press service of the Zubr movement informs.

This event is commented by Nikita Sasim, the head of the BRYU in the college, a member of the Zubr movement:

- Young people, who are herded into the BRYU by force, understand that they are deceived. The majority of this organization’s members understand that the authorities simply use them in their interests. Rank-and-file members of the BRYU have no prospects or possibilities for self-fulfillment. All they have is a number of privileges and free discos. But young people do not seek after advantages. We want to play more serious role in the political and social life of the country. The idea of joining Zubr, as the largest and better-disciplined movement, appeared a few months ago. We discussed it in a circle of acquaintance, met students of other educational institutions. We are sure it is a right decision.

In the end of the meeting its participants voted for an appeal to other BRYU branches with the call to support the Zubr movement and join its activities.
