Lukashenka Intimidates His Relatives And Entourage
16:59, 04/03/2004

Latest events in the leadership of the presidential Administration prove one thing: there would be no secret zones in our country, as well as no white pages,” told Lukashenka on Thursday during the report of the Presidential Administration to the president. As the president underlined, “relatives and entourage should know that they serve to the people and to the state”. ”If they have mistaken their own pocket with the state’s one, nothing of the sort must happen,” said Lukashenka.

Former Presidential Charge d’Affaires Galina Zhurawkova was detained on February 10 and until now is kept in the pre-trial detention cell of the KGB of Belarus. She is charged with a large-scale theft through abuse of office. This article envisages a penalty in the form of deprivation of liberty for a term from 5 to 12 years with confiscation of property.

The head of state told the new Charge d’Affires, Henadz Lawrankow “to be brutal and root out everything dishonest in this structure, from top to bottom”.

The reason of failure is in the personnel, many people work for themselves, and not for the state. If such people are in the audience now, you still have time to come up to the new Charge d’Affaires and confess everything in order to escape the lot of the former Charge d’Affaires and her collaborators,” Lukashenka said.

Addressing the participants of the meeting, president said: “I am not blood-thirsty. Your former head was offered many variants. You should come and say: I have made a mistake, and we would forgive and put it right. It was the devil`s work, you got into trouble,– we would look for the way out together,” emphasized Lukashenka.

Lukashenka warned: “for those who are closer to the president, requirements are stringent”. “If you do not want to work here, then leave,” he said. In the presidential Administration, according to Lukashenka, “crystal-clear people should work”. “We do not have undisciplined structures and we would not have them ever,” stated the president.
