Schukin was denied access to the chamber after his article in the Narodnaya Volya about press conference on the so-called “Belarus and Russia unity day” on April 2, where the speaker of the chamber Vadzim Papow and his predecessor Anatoly Malafeew. We asked Valery Schukin, journalist, human rights activist, deputy of the Supreme Council of the 13th calling, member of the European coalition “Free Belarus” to comment on this fact.
The court of the Soviet district of Minsk summoned Viktar Hanchar by a notice of appointment for the hearings as a defendant in connection with communal services non payment. Such writs have been received also by a wife of another abducted politician, Zinaida Hanchar, and her son Andrei. The United States said Wednesday that passage of a resolution critical of Belarus is among its priorities as the U.N. Human Rights Commission nears several key votes this week in Geneva. U.S. officials say the rights situation in Belarus has worsened since last year.
