BPF Prohibited to Guard Kurapaty 17:28, 24/05/2004

On May 22 district police officers came to Kurapaty soon after a voluntary people’s patrol started its work. The police officers gave the resolution of the rural community executive committee establishing that the decision about a voluntary people’s patrol was annulled. It was stated in the document that the decision of Barauliany village executive committee of March 24 on creation of the voluntary people’s patrol is canceled as the patrol should be created according to the territory and working place principles, while people constituting the patrol neither live nor work at the territory of the community, the Belarusian Popular Front press service informs.

Marynich’s Son Demands to Return Computers 16:29, 24/05/2004

Pavel Marynich, the son of the arrested by KGB ex-minister, deputy of the 12th Supreme Soviet, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Mikhail Marynich, demands to give back to him the computers which were confiscated during the arrest of his father. His request is motivated by the fact that the computers have nothing to do with the charges of Mikhail Marynich.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will meet in Yalta on Sunday for the first time in more than seven months. The two leaders last met after the session of the High State Council of the Russia-Belarus Union State in Moscow in October 2003. 
Case against Mikalay Shykel to Be Considered on 27 May 15:10, 24/05/2004

At 8 p.m. on 16 May the police detained the secretary of Brest regional committee of the Party of Communists of Belarus, Mikalay Shykel. 10 fly-sheets of the party were taken away from him. The police took him to Brest Leninski Borough Board of Internal Affairs, where the report on violation of part 3 of Article 172 (distribution of printed editions, produced with violations of the established order, containing no issue data, the content of which is aimed at doing harm to state and public order, rights and legal interests of citizens”) was composed.
