Another Criminal Case For Graffiti? 16:53, 11/06/2004
Another Zubr activist was detained for graffiti on June 10 in Minsk. Alyaxandar Apranich was arrested by policemen at about 4 a.m., at the moment when he was writing words; “Free Marynich!” at the fence of the Dzyarzhynski Avenue. In handcuffs he was taken to the city police department number 1 of Moscow district. In the police department the guy have spent more than 14 hours.
The policemen have been thinking over what to do with the Zubr activist. First a report has been drawn up on charges relating article 143 of the Administrative Code (Unsanitary conditions). Then Apranich was told that a criminal action was brought up against him on charges 156 of the Administrative code (Petty hooliganism). Apparently the police had not received a clear order of the authorities, that is why their actions’ confusion and inconsistency.
Only at about six in the evening Apranich was taken to the court, where his case was considered by judge Rahozina. She found him guilty of petty hooliganism and sentenced to a fine of one basic unit. At 6 p.m. young oppositionist was released.
At the moment there is no clear information if the criminal action has been drought up against Alyaxandar Apranich.
