NEWS  Belarusian Intellectuals Ask to Release Mikhail Marynich 16:49, 16/06/2004 Participants of the Second All-Belarusian meeting of intelligentsia signed up an appeal to the Public Prosecutor of the Minsk region Nikalai Snyahir with the request to change the preventive measure for oppositionist Mikhail Marynich. The authors of the appeal propose to free him on personal guarantee of the “Respublika” deputies Valery Fralou, Uladzimir Parfyanovich and Syarhei Skrabets, who have gone on hunger strike since June 3. Moreover, the release of the ex-minister is one of the purposes of the deputies’ protest. Participants of the intelligentsia meetings are sure that Mikhail Marynich is not dangerous for the society. They ask Nikalai Snyahir to show humanity, and say that they personally can be Marynich’s guarantors.
