Alexander Bukhvostov: “The Ministry of Justice is cleaning the political field” 16:00, 28/06/2004

PRIMA reports that the Ministry of Justice of Belarus brought an action to the Supreme Court of Justice demanding the Belarusian Party of Labour liquidation. The leader of the party, Alexander Bukhvostov says this is the way the Ministry of Justice “is clearing away the political field before the parliamentary election.”

As far as the question of the preservation of the three Slavonic nations’ cultural traditions is concerned, Alexander Lukashenko puts his hopes on the youth. “I put my hopes on the youth of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, because the young people are the only ones to keep the cultural traditions,” - he declared on 27, June at the opening ceremony of the international youth festival “Friendship 2004”, which is being held in Chernigov region.

The deputies of the “Republic” group Valeriy Frolov, Sergey Skrebets and Vladimir Parfenovitch, the wife of Anatoliy Krasovskiy, a businessman and public figure missed in 1999, and the civil initiative “We Remember” leader Irina Krasovskaya, the Baranovichy legendary “ZUBR” leader Nikita Sasim, the principal of the Belarusian Lyceum and the co-president of the Belarusian Intellectuals’ Rada Vladimir Kolos applied to the Minsk Executive Committee for holding a demonstration and meeting on 21, July in Minsk. The participants of the action intend to sum up the results of Alexander Lukashenko’s presidential decade. The action starts at 18.00 in Yakub Kolas Square.

Police captain Ivan Zhebit beaten under-aged “Zubr” activist Dmitry Kuchinsky yesterday. 
Detentions continue in Minsk 14:31, 28/06/2004

17 “Zubr” activists were detained by police during last week. Police detained them for distributing printed production. Some of them were detained for handing out newspapers “Supratsiu” and “Zubr” in animated places. The others for distributing printed production with information about political prisoners and about hunger strike of “Republic” group.
They were kept from 30 minutes to several hours. Under-aged “Zubr” activist Dmitry Kushinsky was beaten by police captain.
