Chairperson of All-national Proprietors’ Strike Committee and friend of European Coalition “Free Belarus” Valery Levaneuski stopped his hunger-strike in the inquiry isolation ward, Levaneuski’s attorney Aliaxandar Birylau told Radio Liberty. Levaneuski explained that the prison administration implemented two demands, what made him give up the hunger-strike. Ultimately, the assistant jail head accepted him, and the prisoner who induced conflict situations was removed from the cell. Nevertheless, the term of Valery Levaneuski’s imprisonment remains the same: he is to be kept in the inquiry isolation ward till mid-August, as the board of the Grodna district court decided July 27.
Earlier, his wife sent an application to the prosecutor’s office, in which she supposed that her husband and son Uladzimer, against whom an action was brought as well, were chased for their political beliefs. Maryna Levaneuskaya asks to release Valery Levaneuski and conduct an examination regarding validity of his charge. Levaneuski is known to be accused of public outrage of President Lukashenka.
