A member of the Salihorsk city branch of the United Civil Party, Natallya Zubarevich, has been taken to heart disease department in Baraulyany hospital after three-day stay in special pre-trial detention center Akrestsin Street. By the decision of the Central District Court Natallya Zubarevich has been sentenced to 10 days of administrative arrest for participation in the protest against prolongation of president Lukashenka term, which took place at the October Square in Minsk on August 3.

The Foreign Office today voiced concern over the expulsion from Belarus of a British nuclear physics professor studying the effects of the Chernobyl disaster. Dr Alan Flowers, of Kingston University, Surrey, was in Belarus on a scientific expedition. He was also working on a youth democracy project and helping local students heading for Britain for the Edinburgh Festival.
